end of 1998, Airbus Industries and Aerolineas Argentinas, announced with great pomp, an agreement to join the conveyor Argentina six A340-600 leased directly from the factory, to be delivered in 2003 and 2004. The agreement also contemplated, add four A340-211 and two A340-313X previously flown Phillippine Airlines. The aircraft would come from the Philippine company, Airbus had been returned to Asset Management in OCT98, because of economic problems. The immediate plan was overhauled in France, and be sent to Aerolineas Argentinas for the first half of 1999.
The reality is that the only aircraft of that agreement they reached the southern sky, were the four corresponding to version 211. The rest was wrecked in the attempt, given the desaclabros that Argentina's economy suffered before the end of the twentieth century. Orders for the A340-600 were canceled, but for the apparatus of the 300 version, at least one of these aircraft came to look the company scheme Argentina in 1999, registered in France. Coincidentally, later that year, lasted AA renting a longtime Boeing 747-200 by virtue of having delayed the incorporation of 313Xs. Ironically time these aircraft returned later to the Philippine company. The 300 series would rematch in the ranks of Aerolineas Argentinas in 2007 with the arrival of veteran LV-BIT.
